Privacy Policy
Last updated 12 July 2026.
The Bengal Platter ("we", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and how you can control it — including if you subscribe to our weekly menu mailing list.
What we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
- Contact form / order enquiry: name, email, phone, and any details you choose to share about your order or event.
- Subscribe form: first name (required), last name (optional), and either your email address or mobile number — whichever notification channel you choose. We only ask for the contact method you actually select.
We do not use cookies, third-party analytics, or any tracking scripts on this website — content pages are static and load no JavaScript for tracking purposes.
Why we collect it
We use this information solely to respond to your enquiries, fulfil orders, and — for subscribers — to notify you when a new weekly menu or offering goes up, by email or WhatsApp depending on your stated preference.
Consent and your choices
Subscribing to our mailing list is entirely optional and requires your explicit consent at sign-up. You can withdraw that consent at any time:
- Every email we send includes a one-click unsubscribe link.
- If you subscribed for WhatsApp updates, you can message us on WhatsApp at any time to be removed.
- You can also email us at thebengalplatter.melbourne@gmail.com to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data.
Who we share it with
We use Brevo (Sendinblue Pty Ltd), a third-party email/WhatsApp marketing platform, to store subscriber contact details and send mailing list updates on our behalf. Brevo processes this data under its own privacy policy and may store it outside Australia. We do not sell or share your information with any other third party for marketing purposes.
How long we keep it
We keep subscriber details until you unsubscribe or request deletion. Contact form and order enquiry details are kept only as long as needed to respond to and fulfil your request.
Australian Privacy Principles
As a small Melbourne-based business, we aim to handle your personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), and our marketing emails comply with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth) — every message identifies us as the sender and includes a functional unsubscribe facility.
Questions
If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, contact us at thebengalplatter.melbourne@gmail.com or on WhatsApp.
